Why the Vietnamese Don't Want to Go to Rehab

In Vietnam , "treatment" looks a lot more like forced labor, complete with beatings and years of involuntary detention. Like neighboring Cambodia , China , Laos , Malaysia , and Thailand , the government of Vietnam has adopted a "get-tough" approach to drug treatment rather than evidence-based treatment. In Vietnam , more than 100 government-run facilities detain between 35,000 to 45,000 people for extrajudicial sentences of up to four years.

World AIDS Campaign Report into Progress of INPUD launched at IHRC

INPUD is currently in the midst of an 18-month fund-raising and organisational development process which began in January 2009. The World AIDS Campaign offered to help document some of INPUD’s major achievements over the past 12 months to highlight for partners and donors the positive contributions INPUD has made to global advocacy efforts for the
rights of people who use drugs and harm reduction. This report was compiled from a desk review of INPUD reports and other
miscellaneous documents, blogs, and websites, as well as interviews with five key stakeholders who are familiar with INPUD’s recent activities.

Response Beyond Borders

HIV prevention, treatment and care services for people who inject drugs

Previous reviews have examined the existence of HIV prevention, treatment and care services for people who inject drugs worldwide, but they did not quantify the scale of coverage. A systematic review was carried out to estimate national, regional, and global coverage of HIV services in people who inject drugs.
