Violence Against Women

In every country of the world, women across all classes and cultures experience sexual, physical and emotional violence. Violence against women is a fundamental violation of women's human rights. Violence aggravates women's vulnerability to HIV infection, limits women's access to life-saving sexual and reproductive health servies and increases stigma and discrimination.

"Towards a Just and Healthy Life for All: Seven Things the World Can do to End Violence Against Women”, is a fact sheet on violence against women and HIV developed by the World AIDS Campaign, the Women Won’t Wait Campaign, the International AIDS Women’s Caucus, and the International Women’s Health Coalition.

Young Women and HIV

Young women are one of the most powerful driving forces to overcome HIV and AIDS. Time and again, we have seen
that the health and wellbeing of young women are at the centre of building strong and thriving communities. Yet, many young women remain unprotected, vulnerable, unduly affected and at risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV, simply because they are young and women.

This fact sheet discusses the challenges of young women and what international treaties could help in holding governments accountable for improving the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young women.
