Europe

Europe has a wide and diverse range of HIV service providers ranging in size and scope. It also has special interest groups such as the AIDS and Mobility project; and the European AIDS Treatment Group plus acting as the base for some international groups such as GNP+ and ICW.

Malgré la richesse d'expériences et de connaissances des nombreux groupes, l'établissement d'une collaboration nationale et paneuropéenne est difficile. Le premier véhicule de collaboration intensifiée était Eurocaso, un élément du réseau ICASO. Il a été récemment remplacé par la création de AIDS Action Europe (AAE) qui représente maintenant l'Europe aux réunions ICASO mais qui a été initialement créé pour être la voix au niveau européen dans l'élaboration des politiques internes de l'Union européenne sur le VIH à une époque où l'Union européenne s'élargissait à un rythme accéléré.

Au niveau national, le niveau de collaboration en matière de sensibilisation et de campagnes s'est intensifié, particulièrement en réponse aux besoins des communautés du Sud global. Cette collaboration peut se faire sous différentes formes et, dans beaucoup de cas, peut être le résultat d'un accord par une organisation VIH nationale de travailler avec une ou plusieurs agences internationales pour le développement à des actions de collectes de fonds, de sensibilisation du public, de campagnes et événements communs, ou une combinaison de plusieurs éléments de cette liste.

Vienna Statement from AIDS is Politics- Positive Responsibility Conference

At a meeting on the 3rd and 4th of May 2006, Civil Society groups from across Europe agreed the following Statement for presentation to the Austrian Government in its current capacity of President of the Council of Ministers with copies being sent to all other member states and the European Commission. The World AIDS Campaign participated in this meeting.

Aktionsbündnis gegen AIDS warnt vor einseitiger Aids-Politik
Tübingen, 21. November 2006. Heute wurde in Berlin der jährliche HIV/Aids-Bericht der Vereinten Nationen (UNAIDS) und der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt. Das Aktionsbündnis gegen AIDS sieht in dem aktuellen Statusbericht ein Alarmsignal, das auch die Bundesregierung endlich aufrütteln sollte.

How G8 Can Keep the Promise of Universal Access by 2010

The Stop AIDS Campaign has created a policy paper about the commitments that the G8 has made in regards to Universal Access targets. This paper highlights four critical areas: financing universal access, strengthening health systems,ensuring affordable medicines and supporting women and children, which Stop AIDS Campaign believes the G8 must deliver on in to turn Universal Access into a reality.

Humour against AIDS, Denmark

Humour against AIDS is a campaign coalition between three major Danish NGOs: DanChurchAid, IBIS and the Danish AIDS Foundation. The campaign was launched in Denmark on April 1, 2004, and now re-appears on every April Fools Day.

Estonia: A budget-freeze aimed at social needs for 2008

PUBLIC APPEAL: On the 20th June 2007 an article appeared in the media concerning the Estonian Governments plans to reduce the funding allocations for 2008 for the care, treatment and support of people living with HIV and AIDS. The result of this action would be to reduce the commitment to HIV services up to seven times less than had been previously planned. It was said that the resources should be allotted to other social areas such as children's homes, disability services and emergency workers.

Public Appeal to the Government of The Republic of Estonia

We call upon the Estonian Government to live up to your commitments made in the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS in the Special Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2001 and the UNGASS + 5 Political Declaration of 2006, with respect to the commitment to the Universal Access to prevention, treatment, care and support.

Public Appeal - Estonia

The Global Fund Secretariat and the World AIDS Campaign co-hosted an advocacy, campaigning meeting in Estonia in June. The aims of the meeting were to explore the role and relationship of civil society, government and the Global Fund in Estonia. It was also an opportunity to look at advocacy and campaigning possibilities for a joint national civil society platform in Estonia.
