Taking the Lead on World AIDS Day
Below you will find summaries of events and activities that took place for World AIDS Day 2007. From Thailand to Greece, we received reports, photos and information from people around the world who took the lead on and around the 1st of December to stop AIDS.
Results of the 2007 World AIDS Day Review
To mark World AIDS Day 2007, World AIDS Campaign produced and distributed materials for campaigners including three posters, a flyer, and a campaigning CD-Rom. 55,000 sets of these materials were distributed in four languages to campaigners in 128 countries around the world. People from over 92 countries took part in the World AIDS Campaign’s evaluation of the materials, the largest percentage of respondents (32%) coming from Africa, Overall, survey respondents seemed either satisfied or very satisfied with the materials they received and found the theme of leadership “very useful” for planning World AIDS Day events. In terms of media coverage on World AIDS Day, respondents reported seeing more World AIDS Day media coverage via all mediums (e.g. radio, television) than in 2006.
Over 30 individuals and organisations emailed the World AIDS Campaign with feedback and reports from their World AIDS Day events. The reports about World AIDS Day activities and events, were very diverse, ranging from simple public displays of posters to marches including thousands of campaigners. The large majority of these events used the theme of leadership in their celebrations.

The theme for World AIDS Day 2007 and 2008 is “leadership”. This theme will continue to be promoted with the campaigning slogan, “Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise.”
