Rapid Advice

The guideline Antiretroviral therapy for hiv infection in adults and adolescents, developed by World Health Organization (WHO), was first published in 2002, simplified in 2003 and was updated in 2006. The guideline continues to follow the principles of a public health approach, aiming to optimize outcomes, including the quality of life and survival, of people living with HIV (PLHIV),
and to act as a reference tool for countries to adopt and adapt according to their national circumstances.

Prevention Strategies for People Living with HIV

This guide on positive prevention was developed to assist people living with HIV, service providers and policy makers to understand, promote and implement appropriate rights-based strategies for addressing the prevention needs of people living with HIV. The guide includes sections which focus on action points and provides useful information on key issues to consider when developing prevention programmes for people living with HIV. The main audiences of this guide includes networks and organizations of people living with HIV, civil society organizations, health providers, programme managers, donors, United Nations agencies and government officials.

West Africa Treatment Action Group (WATAG) Request for Proposals – Announcement

The West Africa Region of ITPC’s HIV Collaborative Fund small grants programme is seeking proposals from Community Based Organizations that represent the interests of people living with HIV/AIDS for the upcoming 2010-2011 cycle of funding.

 

The overall objective of this grant is to financially support initiatives of civil society organizations and Community Based Organizations that represent interests of PLWHA and other communities affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic through small grants and technical assistance to the grantees.

New PlusNews Radio Page in Africa Goes Live

PlusNews, the HIV/AIDS channel of the United Nation's IRIN news service, has launched a new radio page delivering high-quality audio feature programmes that give a voice to people and communities on the frontline of the AIDS pandemic. The ready-to-broadcast MP3 audio files are free to download. They bear witness to the impact of HIV in southern Africa, particularly on the region's most vulnerable people: its children and women.
