Youth

The Youth Constituency Programme of the World AIDS Campaign aims to strengthen campaigning of young people around universal access to prevention, treatment, care and support. In this section you will find information on campaigning and advocacy activities from youth led and youth serving organisations at an international, regional and national level.

The year 2008 was a pioneer one for the World AIDS Campaign. In January 2008 as the first constituency-based position the Youth Campaign Coordinator was launched. Through a year of working in close consultation and dialogue with our youth partners, the Youth Constituency Programme has established a platform for youth and youth organisations at the international, regional and national levels to dialogue and build partnerships; developed a series of resources with various topics for youth campaigns; was involved in different key events and influenced policy and decision making process in partnership with youth led and youth serving organisations.

Throughout 2009 and 2010, the Youth constituency programme will develop further in terms of three aspects based on the successful one year pilot programme in 2008 to achieve universal access for prevention, treatment, care and support:

  • Integrate human rights issues into youth programme at all aspects in World AIDS Campaign and beyond;
  • Explore partnerships at regional and national level;
  • Focus on young people who are most affected, including but not limited to young people living with HIV, young women, young people who use drugs, young sex workers, young men who have sex with men, young migrants.

We will be posting updates on the website, including resources, opportunities for collaboration. If you are interested in finding out more, building a partnership with World AIDS Campaign, or sending in your ideas, please contact the Youth Campaign Coordinator, Liping Mian at liping_youth@worldaidscampaign.org. Your feedback is most welcome!
