Campaigners from around the world will be coming together on World AIDS Day, 1 December, to commemorate the theme of universal access and human rights.

Unfortunately this year, due to financial constraints, we are unable to supply printed materials via the post. However, we are in the process of creating a host of online tools that you can adapt and download to make your World AIDS Day event unique, including:

  • Posters to download: This year we will again be offering the “I am living my rights” posters and postcards to download in over 10 languages.
  • Light for Rights Toolkit : Another great way to promote the World AIDS Day theme of universal access and human rights to host a “Lights for Rights event. This year plans are being made for events in over 100 cities. Click here to learn more.
  • World AIDS Day International Events Calendar: Join the hundreds of campaigners from around the world each year that post their World AIDS Campaign events on our International Calendar! Opening this fall. To see what people did in 2009, click here.

There are a range of people – men who have sex with men, people who use drugs, sex workers and some people living with HIV – whose vulnerability to HIV is intensified by the hostile laws, policies and policing practices which they have to endure, and by the lack of programmes designed for their needs. The United Nations Development Programme has set up a Global Commission to research the experiences of these criminalized groups ; the submissions of civil society will be vital to its success.
